About UKSEQ

Setting Standards. Recognising Achievement.

UK Security & Events Qualifications (UKSEQ) is an independent awarding organisation in development, established with one clear purpose: to raise professional standards across the UK's security, spectator safety, stewarding and event management industries.

We believe that industries entrusted with protecting people, managing crowds and maintaining public safety deserve a dedicated qualifications organisation that understands the realities, responsibilities and complexities of their work.

Security officers, stewards, supervisors, crowd safety professionals and event safety managers play essential roles in protecting the public. Their training, competence and professional development should be supported by qualifications that reflect the environments in which they operate and the responsibilities they carry.

Our Vision

To become the UK's leading specialist awarding organisation for security, spectator safety, stewarding and event safety qualifications.

We envision a future where individuals from every background have access to meaningful qualifications that recognise their abilities, strengthen professional standards and support career progression.

Our Mission

To raise industry standards through credible qualifications, rigorous assessment, independent quality assurance and professional development pathways that recognise genuine occupational competence.

  • Industry Expertise: Working alongside industry stakeholders to help establish a stronger, more consistent framework for occupational competence and professional progression.
  • Integrity in Assessment: Establishing transparent, consistent and impartial assessment and quality assurance arrangements that reflect real-world capability.
  • Genuine Skills Recognition: Recognising genuine skills and ensuring that professional qualifications represent real-world capability, not just academic achievement.
  • High Standards: Maintaining high standards and ensuring the future of our industry depends on consistent, credible and meaningful professional qualifications.
  • Innovation in Education: Using appropriate digital technology to improve accessibility, administration and the learner experience.
  • Continuous Improvement: Reviewing our systems, qualifications and practices to maintain confidence and quality across everything we do.
Why UKSEQ?

Our Industry Deserves Its Own Standards.

We believe our industry deserves dedicated attention, specialist expertise and a qualifications framework built around its unique responsibilities.

The security and events industries are responsible for far more than managing access, checking tickets or maintaining order.

Every day, security professionals, stewards and safety personnel make decisions that influence public safety, protect vulnerable individuals, manage complex environments and support the safe delivery of major events.

Yet the education and qualifications supporting these professions are often delivered within awarding organisations whose responsibilities extend across many unrelated sectors.

UKSEQ is being established to champion that approach. Our ambition is to create a specialist awarding organisation that understands the operational realities of the sector, works collaboratively with employers and industry experts, and develops qualifications that genuinely reflect occupational competence.

We want to strengthen the relationship between education, practical experience and professional recognition, supporting a clear pathway from entry-level stewarding and security roles through to supervision, management and specialist safety responsibilities.

We believe that raising educational standards is fundamental to raising professional standards.

UKSEQ is being built for our industry, with our industry, and for the professionals who keep people safe.

How we work

Our Approach

Qualifications Built Around Real-World Competence

We believe effective vocational qualifications must reflect the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours required in the workplace. By engaging with employers, training providers and subject-matter experts, we intend to develop qualifications that respond to changing professional requirements and emerging skills needs.

Quality Without Compromise

UKSEQ is committed to establishing robust governance, independent decision-making and effective quality assurance arrangements throughout the qualification lifecycle. Our proposed framework encompasses qualification development, centre approval, assessment, internal and external quality assurance, malpractice prevention and the secure management of learner achievements.

A Modern Approach to Awarding

UKSEQ is developing a digital-first approach intended to support efficient administration, secure learner records, effective quality assurance and improved communication between centres, learners and the awarding organisation. Technology will support our operations while maintaining appropriate human oversight, professional judgement and assessment integrity.

Our Regulatory Journey

UKSEQ Ltd is developing its awarding organisation operations with the intention of seeking formal recognition from Ofqual in England and Qualifications Wales in Wales.

Our development programme is focused on establishing the governance, financial resources, operational systems, qualification development processes and quality assurance arrangements necessary to support future recognition applications.

UKSEQ is not currently recognised by Ofqual or Qualifications Wales and does not presently offer regulated qualifications. We are committed to approaching the recognition process with transparency, professionalism and a clear understanding of the responsibilities associated with becoming a recognised awarding organisation.
