Our Qualifications
UKSEQ is developing a suite of vocational qualifications in the security and events sectors, designed to recognise professional competence and meet the needs of learners, employers and training providers.
UKSEQ is not currently a recognised awarding organisation. The qualifications described on this page are in development and are not yet regulated or available for delivery. All details are subject to change.
Qualifications Designed for the Sector
UKSEQ is developing a focused suite of qualifications across spectator safety, security operations, crowd management and professional development. Each qualification is being designed in close alignment with industry practice, regulatory expectations and the needs of learners and employers.
Our proposed qualifications will sit within the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and are being developed to reflect real-world competence, structured assessment and meaningful professional progression.
Spectator Safety
Qualifications for stewards, supervisors and safety officers working in sports grounds, arenas and event venues regulated under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act and the Green Guide.
These qualifications are being developed in alignment with SGSA guidance and the requirements of the Sports Ground Safety Authority.
Security Operations
Qualifications for security officers, door supervisors and control room operatives working in licensed and unlicensed security environments.
Developed to complement SIA licensing requirements and support professional development beyond the licence-linked threshold.
Crowd Management
Qualifications focused on crowd dynamics, public safety planning and the management of large-scale events and gatherings.
Aligned with guidance from the Event Safety Alliance, Purple Guide and emerging Martyn's Law requirements.
Professional Development
Continuing professional development qualifications for experienced practitioners seeking formal recognition of their expertise.
Designed to support career progression and provide a structured pathway for senior professionals in the security and events sectors.
Understanding the RQF
All UKSEQ qualifications are being developed within the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). The following terms describe how qualifications are structured and measured.
- RQF Level
- Indicates the complexity and depth of learning. Level 2 is broadly equivalent to GCSE standard; Level 3 to A-level; Level 4 to the first year of a degree.
- Award
- A smaller qualification typically comprising one to three units, suited to focused skill development or introductory study.
- Certificate
- A medium-sized qualification covering a broader range of knowledge and skills across multiple units.
- GLH
- Guided Learning Hours — the estimated time a learner spends in structured learning activities such as teaching, assessment and supervised practice.
- TQT
- Total Qualification Time — the total time expected to achieve the qualification, including GLH and independent study.
- Unit
- A discrete component of a qualification with its own learning outcomes and assessment criteria.
